More affordable options than a plated or buffet dinner may suite you and your pocket book. Whether a country- style brunch or a garden setting luncheon, these daylight events tend to be delightfully memorable. A brunch can be a sophisticated choice with your favorite dishes offered at food stations to promote mingling. (Envision omelets to order, waffle bars, crepe stations – depending on the guest count there are endless options.) Offering a couple of signature drinks (think killer bloody mary’s or delicious mimosas) with a fun coffee bar and barista offering fancy drinks to order should keep everyone satisfied. The flowers and decor might range from casually charming to warmly nature inspired or simply lavish depending on the surroundings. Since guests won’t be “dancing the night away” to the spin of a DJ, consider hiring fabulous musicians to entertain your guests. You can probably save enough money by nixing the open bar and plated “chicken or beef” meal to hire a great coordinator so that you truly don’t have a care in the world for your big day. Green wedding options can also yield savings (omit the disposables altogether and you’ve already saved big!) and help you celebrate in good taste and style.

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” Dating back to the Victorian Era, this good luck saying is proof that “going green” was for the hip way back in the day. Recycling more than good old traditions, getting back to basics can take you all the way back to the farm.

Today’s barn weddings can offer a blend of laid back old world style with contemporary comforts. A barn is no longer just a barn. The best ones seems a step off the beaten path and provide a semi-blank canvas on which you design your own event. Thus, they tend to host very personal (thus, memorable) events. From rustic to chic, a Colorado style wedding might lead you to a good old barn…

Enter, Lone Hawk Farm, Longmont, Colorado. This updated venue is a great example of a working farm that offers a lovely site for both an intimate ceremony and a jammin’ reception. I might be exaggerating to suggest you can “design on a dime” but you can certainly work the “less is more” design principles and let the beauty of nature provide the backdrop for your perfect day.

First snow falls

Summer couldn’t possibly go on forever… although I was lost in that fantasy. The warm weather lingered and stalled and was thoroughly enjoyed for a good long spell. The lavender and rosemary has survived the chill but it’s time to harvest the stragglers in the herb gardens. We are drying herbs around the clock and have plenty to share with the kitchens in the area. I would love to design a full herbal bouquet for a beautiful hippie bride.

Elegant Wedding Showcase

Boulderado Hotel delivered again. A well hosted event drew in a nice crowd of couples in love, their family and friends. Compared to other wedding shows, the food was over the top and the hospitality to match. It is one of the few shows that also treats the vendors like valued guests. Starting with a lavish continental breakfast to get us all in the groove, the day flowed nicely. Multiple food stations well scattered throughout the Mezzanine was augmented with passed appetizers. The time flew by and culminated in great prize give-a-ways. (A $3000 reception credit wasn’t too shabby!) So many shows, so little time… when choosing to give up a precious weekend day to be inside and stroll a wedding show, the Boulderado rewards. I was in good company next to with Jenna Rice Photography, Indulge Bakery, Lighting by Scott and Get UP and Dance DJ to name a few of the top shelf wedding professionals. For all of you show goers, thanks for the opportunity to meet and greet – now go the next step and follow up with those vendors that you felt a connection. “Botanists estimate there are more than 240,000 types of flowering plants on Earth.” (Most people can recognize thousands of logos of products yet cannot identity even a dozen local plant specimens.) However, as sensual human beings, we are attracted to the majesty of each flower’s individual fragrance, color, and symmetry. Flowers are supposed to be sexy – after all, they must seduce the buzzing birds and bees into intimacy for their own successful reproduction through pollination.

In the Springtime, we rejoice at the sign of bright colors popping through the ground, and the delicate blossoms of the fruit trees waking up from their winter’s sleep. These wonders can inspire us and offer a sense of hope and feeling of happiness.
