The Dirt on Flowers

As perfect as they may look , conventionally grown flowers come with some bad news. Are you surprised to learn that flowers are the most pesticide-intensive crop in the world?

About 60% of the flowers available in the US are imported. Because flowers are not eaten (typically) the level of pesticide residue on the blooms is not regulated. Since Customs agents are concerned about invasive pests, there is an incentive for foreign growers to heavily spray their flowers. Most even spray the boxes they ship them in! Yuck.

You’ve come to the right place. I’ll be posting references  for gorgeous, sustainable flower arrangements anytime of year while honoring the budget.
